Matt Hills grew up in Latin America (Costa Rica, Colombia, and Ecuador). Upon graduating high school from an international school in Quito, Ecuador, Matt returned to the U.S. where he attended Wheaton College in Illinois. While at Wheaton, Matt cultivated his passion for foreign policy and politics. He earned a B.A. in International Relations and Political Science and then began his life dream of serving his country when he was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Army on graduation day.

Military Career

Matt served ten years on active duty as an Infantry officer, graduated from the US Army’s Ranger school, and then served in both the 82nd Airborne Division and 25th Infantry Division.  Matt served nearly 3 years on the front lines in Iraq over two lengthy deployments from 2006-2008 and 2010-2011. Matt was discharged honorably from active duty in 2015, subsequently transferred to the Inactive Ready Reserve, and was immediately promoted to Major.

Private Sector Career

Upon leaving the military, Matt transitioned to the corporate sector and worked in the distribution, international freight, and logistics sectors for several years.  Matt distinguished himself as a highly versatile transformational leader who gained experience managing several functional areas within a business.  During the pandemic, Matt took his years of business leadership experience and transitioned to management consulting where he became a trusted advisor to companies serving as a fractional CIO.  Matt is now an independent management consultant specializing in fractional COO services, business turnarounds, business process reengineering, digital transformations, and leadership coaching for small to lower-mid-market businesses.

Civic Engagement

For several years, Matt has supported non-profits focused on poverty alleviation in Latin America and has participated in several mission trips.  Matt is active in his community and serves as a council member for the Town of Williams Creek (Indianapolis). He also recently graduated from the esteemed Indiana Leadership Forum program in August of 2022 furthering his interest in becoming more involved in his community.

Family

Matt met his wife Kelly while she was working as an attorney in Chicago.  A Hoosier native and DePauw grad, Kelly grew up in Indianapolis and was in the process of expanding her practice and launching an Indianapolis office. Matt and Kelly relocated to Indianapolis with their two young sons and immediately became involved in the local community. Matt and his family are members of a number of Indy organizations and support several local non-profit organizations in the community. In his free time, Matt enjoys trying new culinary experiences and traveling with his wife and two sons. He is also an avid outdoorsman and golfer.
